This classic stew of beef, potatoes and mushrooms gets a bold boost of flavour from the addition of the smoky barbecue sauce.

1-1/2 lb. (675 g) stewing beef, cut into bite-size pieces
1 tsp. pepper, divided
2 Tbsp. oil
4 cups halved cremini mushrooms
2 cups each chopped carrots and onions
2 Tbsp. finely chopped fresh rosemary
3 Tbsp. flour
3/4 cup dry red wine
4 cups 25%-less-sodium beef broth
3/4 cup Diana Sauce Gourmet Original BBQ Sauce
1/4 cup tomato paste
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb. (450 g) new potatoes, halved or quartered
1 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup coarsely chopped fresh parsley

Step 1
Pat meat dry with paper towels; sprinkle with half the pepper. Heat oil in Dutch oven on medium-high heat. Add meat; cook 5 to 7 min. or until evenly browned, stirring occasionally. Transfer meat to bowl with slotted spoon, reserving drippings in pan.
Step 2
Add mushrooms, carrots, onions, rosemary and remaining pepper to drippings in pan; cook 8 to 10 min. or until vegetables are softened, stirring frequently. Add flour; cook and stir 1 min. Add wine; cook 2 min., stirring constantly to scrape browned bits from bottom of pan.
Step 3
Stir in broth, barbecue sauce, tomato paste and garlic; bring to boil. Return meat to pan along with any meat juices from bowl. Add potatoes; stir. Simmer on medium-low heat 1 hour or until meat is tender and stew is slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
Step 4
Add peas and parsley; cook 5 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.
