6 slices bacon, cut into 2-inch pieces
1 lb. (450 g) fresh mushrooms, quartered
6 shallots, finely chopped
4 small bone-in chicken thighs (3/4 lb./340 g)
4 small chicken drumsticks (3/4 lb./340 g)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. black pepper
4 cups hot cooked pappardelle pasta

Step 1
Cook and stir bacon in Dutch oven or large deep skillet on medium-high heat 2 min. Add mushrooms and shallots; cook 8 min. or until bacon is crisp and mushrooms are tender, stirring occasionally. Remove bacon mixture from skillet with slotted spoon; set aside.
Step 2
Add chicken to bacon drippings in skillet; cook 10 to 14 min. or until evenly browned on all sides, turning occasionally.
Step 3
Mix barbecue sauce, dressing, garlic and pepper; add to chicken along with the bacon mixture. Bring to boil; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat 35 to 40 min. or until chicken is done (165ºF), stirring occasionally.
Step 4
Serve chicken with pasta.

Preparing Perfect Pasta
Follow the package directions to ensure that enough water is used for cooking the pasta. Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook until al dente (tender but still a little firm to the bite), stirring frequently. To prevent pasta from sticking, add it slowly to plenty of boiling water and stir frequently while cooking. Adding oil to the cooking water is not recommended because some sauces may not cling to pasta coated with oil.
