These delicious Cheesy Cabbage Rolls are a fun new take on traditional cabbage rolls. A perfect recipe to make with your kids, these cabbage rolls contain a cheesy meat filling baked in a tomato sauce for irresistible results. Plan ahead by making a double batch, then freezing half to serve as part of another meal.

8 large cabbage leaves
2 Tbsp. water
1 jar (650 mL) Classico Riserva Marinara Pasta Sauce, divided
1 lb. (450 g) extra-lean ground beef
1 container (500 g) cottage cheese
1 egg, beaten
2 cloves garlic, minced
1-1/2 cups shredded Tex-Mex cheese blend, divided
8 green onions, chopped, divided

Step 1
Heat oven to 350°F.
Step 2
Place cabbage in large microwaveable bowl. Add water; cover with waxed paper. Microwave on HIGH 4 to 5 min. or just until cabbage leaves are softened.
Step 3
Spread 1 cup pasta sauce onto bottom of 3-L casserole dish sprayed with cooking spray.
Step 4
Mix meat, cottage cheese, egg, garlic, and 1/2 cup each shredded cheese and onions just until blended. Spoon onto centres of cabbage leaves, adding about 3/4 cup meat mixture to each leaf. Fold in sides of each leaf, then roll up burrito style.
Step 5
Place cabbage rolls, seam sides down, in prepared casserole dish; top with remaining pasta sauce. Sprinkle with remaining shredded cheese; cover.
Step 6
Bake 1 hour or until filling is done (160°F). Sprinkle with remaining onions.

How to Make it Easier to Fold the Cabbage Leaves
After microwaving the cabbage leaves, use a sharp knife to cut off the thick part of each leaf at the core to make it easier to stuff the leaf with the meat filling.
Prepare using ground pork, or a mixture of ground beef and ground pork.
Make Ahead
These delicious cabbage rolls can be assembled ahead of time. Place in airtight container, then freeze up to 2 months. Thaw in refrigerator overnight before baking as directed.
Prepare using your favourite flavour of Classico Pasta Sauce and/or shredded cheese blend.
