Chili lovers, this recipe is for you. Moist oven-baked meatballs get added flavour from chili-flavoured beans. For extra goodness, a simple brown sugar-sweetened tomato sauce is poured over the baked meatballs for the final oven-baking step to add the perfect finishing touch.

2 slices whole wheat bread, torn into small pieces
2 tsp. each chili powder and dried oregano
4 green onions, finely chopped, divided
1 can (14 fl oz/398 mL) Heinz Chili Style Pinto & Red Kidney Beans, rinsed
1 lb. (450 g) extra-lean ground beef
1/4 cup frozen corn, thawed
3 cups tomato sauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup finely chopped green peppers
2 Tbsp. Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Tbsp. Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced

How do I make it ?
Heat oven to 350ºF.
Use pulsing action to process bread into fine crumbs. Add egg, chili powder, oregano and 1/4 cup onions; pulse until blended. Add beans; pulse just until blended.
Spoon bean mixture into large bowl. Add meat and corn; mix just until blended. Shape into 1-1/2-inch meatballs; place on foil-covered rimmed baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake 15 to 20 min. or until done (160ºF). Spoon into 2.5-L casserole dish sprayed with cooking spray.
Combine remaining ingredients, including remaining onions; pour over meatballs. Cover.
Bake 30 to 40 min. or until heated through.

Spoon into split French or Italian bread buns; top with your favourite Cracker Barrel Shredded Cheese.
Serve over hot cooked rice, with steamed fresh green beans on the side.
