Tourtiere is a French Canadian classic that's traditionally served on Christmas Eve. A perfectly seasoned mix of ground beef and pork fills a flakey pastry crust for an irresistible main-dish pie.

How do I make it ?
Select All
Step 1
Cook meat in large nonstick skillet on medium heat until done, stirring occasionally; drain. Return meat to skillet. Add all remaining ingredients except potatoes and pie shells; mix well. Cover; simmer on medium-low heat 30 min., stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Remove and discard bay leaf. Stir potatoes into meat mixture; cool completely.
Step 2
Heat oven to 425ºF. Spoon meat mixture into 1 pastry shell; cover with remaining pastry. Seal and flute edge. Cut several slits in top crust to permit steam to escape.
Step 3
Bake 35 to 40 min. or until pastry is golden brown, reducing oven temperature to 375ºF after 15 min.
