4 onions (1 lb./450 g), thinly sliced
1 tsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. oil
1 can (10 fl oz/284 mL) 25%-less-sodium beef broth
2 cups water
1/3 cup dry white wine
5 slices French bread, toasted
1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese

How do I make it ?
Cook onions and sugar in hot oil in large saucepan on medium heat 15 to 20 min. or until tender and golden brown, stirring occasionally.
Stir in broth, water and wine; bring to boil. Simmer on low heat 20 min.
Place toast slices on baking sheet; top with cheese. Broil, 6 inches from heat source, 1 to 2 min. or until cheese is melted. Ladle soup into 5 bowls; top each with toast slice.
