The spice sumac is often used in Middle Eastern dishes. It is made from the decorative berries of a bush and is often sold ground in Lebanese or Mediterranean markets. It has a fruity, astringent taste and is used in meat dishes, salads and appetizers. Try adding 1 tsp. to the ground meat mixture if you would like to give it a try.
