Make your own cherry jam when sweet or sour juicy cherries are in season. A great way to save a little taste of summer later in the year with this recipe for cherry jam.

1-3/4 cups prepared cherries (buy about 4 cups cherries)
4 cups sugar
1 pouch Certo Liquid Pectin
1/4 cup lemon juice

How do I make it ?
Stem and finely chop cherries. Measure exactly 1-3/4 cups prepared fruit into large bowl. Stir in sugar. Let stand 10 min., stirring occasionally.
Mix pectin and lemon juice in small bowl. Add to cherry mixture; stir 3 min. or until most the sugar is dissolved and no longer grainy. (A few sugar crystals may remain.)
Fill all containers immediately to within 1/2 inch of tops. Wipe off top edges of containers; immediately cover with lids. Let stand at room temperature 24 hours or until set.

How to Measure Ingredients
Accurate measurements are required when preparing jams. Prepared fruit should be measured in a glass measuring cup after chopping. Sugar should be measured in a dry measuring cup that can be levelled off with a knife.
No-cook jams can be stored in the freezer for up to 1 year. Remove from freezer and let thaw in the refrigerator. Once thawed, no-cook jams will last 3 weeks in the refrigerator.
How to Accurately Measure the Sugar
To ensure accuracy of the sugar measure when preparing jams or jellies, use a dry measuring cup to measure the sugar, then place all the measured sugar in a separate bowl before adding it to the fruit mixture in bowl.
