1/2 cup flour
2-1/2 Tbsp. corn starch
1-1/2 tsp. Magic Baking Powder
1 Tbsp. hot pepper sauce
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 cup club soda
1 cup oil, for frying
3 Claussen Dill Pickles, each cut crosswise into 6 slices

Step 1
Whisk first 5 ingredients in medium bowl until well blended. Gradually stir in club soda, beating until smooth and well blended. (Batter will be thick.)
Step 2
Heat oil in deep 10-inch skillet on medium-high heat to 350ºF. Add pickles to batter; stir to evenly coat. Remove from batter, 1 at a time; shake gently to remove excess batter. Add pickles, in batches, to skillet; cook 1 to 2 min. or until golden brown, turning frequently. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

Pickle Spears
For larger pieces, cut each pickle lengthwise into 4 spears. Coat with batter and fry as directed, increasing the cooking time to 2 to 4 min. or until evenly browned. Makes 6 servings, 2 spears each.

How to Thin Batter
Batter should be consistency of pancake batter. If too thick, gradually stir in additional club soda until batter is thinned to desired consistency.
