This from-scratch dessert is a delicious cross between cake and a cobbler and it’s as easy as pie to make. Just prepare the fruit filling right in the baking pan, then add the coconut- and chocolate-studded topping and bake until bubbly and golden brown. It’s the perfect way to use up summer berries and apples – just use whatever variety berries and baking apples you have. Celebrate the summer season with this deliciously easy layered dessert.

Cooking Know-How
Letting the fruit and sugar stand for a few minutes is a process called "maceration." This allows the fruit to soften slightly and release its natural juices.
